Visit a Basque Cider House


Visit one of the oldes cider houses in the Basque Country.

Astarbe, one of the Basque Country`s oldes cider house has a rich history dating back to 1563.

Located in Astigarraga, 15 minutes from the city of San Sebastian, this cider house offers the opportunity to taste the tradition and learn about the historical significance.

Participating in our tours, visitors will not only learn the secrets built by 15 generations of the cider house family, but also taste the cider produced by the current one. Here at Astarbe we pair history with the tasting of our Natural Ciders and local "pintxos" (small plates) with a guiaded visit to the apple orchard, a XIX century press and cider house cellar.

Following the guiaded tour of the cider house and its surroundings, visitors will enjoy the traditional cider house sharing menu consisting of a cod omelet, pan fried cod with peppers and onions, grilled aged T-Bone steak and dessert (cheese, apple quince paste and walnuts).

Astarbe Tour

  • When? Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 12:30 (Jun-half of November)
  • How long? 60 minutes.
  • What is it? The visit of the apple orchard, old press and the cellar.
  • We will pair… four ciders with two local pintxos (small plates).
  • Who much? 12€ per person.

Mendiola Tour

  • When? Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 12:30 (Jun-half of November)
  • How long? 30 minutes of tour and the lunch.
  • What is it? The visit of the old press the, cellar and the tasting of the traditional menu
  •  We will pair… one cider, one pintxo (small plates) and the menu with cider (cod omelet, the frying cod with peppers and onions, the T-Bone steak and the traditional dessert (cheese, apple quince and walnuts)).
  •  Who much? 38€ per person.

Mendiola Premium Tour

  • When? For Mondays till Sundays at 12:30 (Jun-half of November)
  • How long? 60 minutes of tour and the lunch.
  • What is it? The visit of the apple orchard, the old press the, cellar and the tasting of the traditional menu
  •  We will pair… four ciders, two pintxos (small plates) and the menu with cider (cod omelet, the frying cod with peppers and onions, the T-Bone steak and the traditional dessert (cheese, apple quince and walnuts)).
